How can we help?

Community pharmacists are ideally placed to advise people on how to stop smoking and to provide information on the supply of medication. Many will also be able to provide treatment for smokers who want to stop.

Lindsay & Gilmour are proud of the role we have in the heart of the communities we serve and are dedicated to helping improve the health of our patients.

Get Support

Mr ‘X’ came into Lindsay and Gilmour Pharmacy in Hawick and enquired about our smoking cessation service. During a consultation with one of our experienced pharmacy technicians in our private consultation room, Mr ‘X’ shared that he had started smoking in his early twenties and currently smoked 40 cigarettes per day.

After a thorough explanation of how our smoking cessation service works and the support we provide to help ensure his goals were realistic and achievable, a quit date was set and his choice of products agreed upon.

It was also arranged that Mr ‘X’ would visit us weekly to collect his nicotine patches, have his CO levels measured, and have his progress monitored. We also discussed strategies to manage temptation and cope with cravings.

After completing 12 weeks of Nicotine Replacement Therapy, Mr ‘X’ stopped using patches altogether. He recently visited our Hawick pharmacy while passing by to thank us again for the support we had provided. Our team were delighted to hear that, since his quit date, he has not smoked a single cigarette and remains a healthier, happier non-smoker.
